How do I know if I need a tile repair or a full roof replacement?
Targeted tile repairs are the right solution when the damage is localised, the overall tile surface is in reasonable condition and the roof still has significant serviceable life remaining. Full roof replacement becomes the more economical choice when tile damage is widespread, the sarking and battens are heavily deteriorated, or the roof is well past its expected service life. Our free onsite assessment gives you an honest recommendation based on what we actually find not what generates the larger job for us.
Can you match my existing tile profile and colour exactly?
For concrete tiles, we carry a broad range of profiles and can source most current product lines from major manufacturers. Colour matching on older concrete tiles is more challenging as surface coatings fade over time, but we aim for the closest available match. For terracotta tiles, particularly heritage profiles, we maintain relationships with specialist suppliers and salvage sources to find the best possible match. We will always show you the proposed replacement tile before committing to the repair.
Can you repair a leaking tile roof from inside the roof cavity?
In a limited number of situations, temporary measures can be applied from inside the roof cavity to slow an active leak while permanent external repairs are being arranged. However, a permanent repair always involves addressing the fault from the outside at the tile surface where the problem originates. Internal applications are temporary by nature and do not replace proper external tile repairs.
How long does a tile roof repair take to complete?
Most standard tile repair jobs replacing a handful of broken tiles, reseating slipped tiles or carrying out a localised repointing repair are completed within half a day to a full day depending on the scope. Larger-scale repairs or full ridge and hip repointing on a larger property will take longer. We confirm the expected timeframe when we provide your quote.
Do I need to be home while the tile repairs are carried out?
For external tile repairs where internal roof cavity access is not required, it is not always necessary for you to be home during the work itself though we do ask that someone is present for the initial assessment and at handover. We will discuss access arrangements with you when booking.
